The family member would be my beloved mother. she recently had the bariatric surgery so she has lost a bunch of wait. i heard about this and am just wondering if this could be of benefit to her. it is considered a medically necessary procedure.

The military won’t give her free cosmetic surgery. She can’t even use your health benefits unless you claim her as a dependent.

You can probably get cosmetic surgery cheaper in another country. BUT I would not think it would be safe. Other countries have different laws about how to do things. I would not think they are as clean as you may want.
To me both are important. Your first appointment with a doctor is usually free. At that time you can ask for prices. If the doctor is more than you wish to pay, I would try the next one on your list. But I would definitely not go to another country.
Years ago my husband and I were in Mexico and he got very ill. We had to go to a hospital in Mexico. It was awful. They do not do things the same way as we do in our country. The hospital was filthy. They did make him well. But when we came home and asked a physician what the medicine was that was given to my husband. No one knew.
It was quite frightening. Plus no one knowing English was not nice either.

any good medical college that teaches plastic surgery.
my cousin had a cosmetic procedure performed by the head of the department for 1/2 of what she would have paid if she had gone to that same doctor’s practice. She had to agree to have her procedure filmed as this was a teaching hospital.
again, you still have to research the doctors and know who is going to be working on you before you agree.
as to private practices: any where you go it’s going to be expensive because it’s considered unnecessary surgery. the state the work is being done in doesn’t really reflect in the price of the work. What you are paying for is the doctor’s expertise and proficiency.

I think it’s fine, because everyone has the right to modify their bodies however they want. With make-up, or tattoos, or hair dye, or anything.

Well it is appropriate for anyone to modify their bodies. I just don’t understand how anyone could hate their body so much that they would have to pay so much just to change it.
Plus, if you’re lucky and your surgery turns out well, it will last for a few years untill you are old, and chances are, you will look worse as you age. Not only that, but you have to get monthly checkups to see how it is turning out. Cosmetic surgery only lasts for so long and in the end it will be twice as worse.
In my opinion, if a person is obese, then surgery such as liposunction may be needed to be applied in order to keep your body in a functioning condition. People that change the way they look by surgery are people that cannot accept the way they are.
Another fact: Make up (like lipstick, I guess) IS NOT SUPPOSED TO MODIFY your body, it ENHANCES your features. Make up is not something to cover your face up in, it is suppose to bring out your good features and obscure the not so good.
Another thing about tattoos and piercings, to me, they are just symbols to represent a certain thing that is important to me, for example friendship, or love or something significantly good/impotrant that took place in my life.

I don’t know why because these people are loving and beautiful just the way they are. The other thing would depend on the shape of their head. Since this disease effects it then it would all depend on what degree of downs the person has. Good luck and God Bless
