I’m getting dental implants, quite a few, and I’d like to know how you felt immediately after the post implant

Question by SusiQ: I’m getting dental implants, quite a few, and I’d like to know how you felt immediately after the post implant
Did you have alot of discomfort? I’ve been told I’d have to wait 4-6 months for the post to adhere to the bone. It sounds so uncomfortable!!!

Now this is a question I can answer :)

See my avatar? That is my new smile. I have 8 implants on top and 6 on the bottom with my teeth attached with screws to the teeth. I do not remove them to clean then nor does the dentist.

I had all my teeth pulled including 4 impacted wisdom teeth, implants immediately placed and my temporary teeth attached immediately. (called teeth in a day) Yes my teeth were attached but I was not permitted to chew anything firmer than baked fish or things that took no pressure for 5 months.

As for pain, sure I had pain but I just had my teeth pulled. I have many friends who have had implants that have little to no pain if the teeth are already missing. There is no pain to having dental implants nor is it uncomfortable. I love mine like crazy.

Write to me directly if you wish.

dental implants: will i be given a temporary tooth while waiting for my permanent cap?

Question by babyt: dental implants: will i be given a temporary tooth while waiting for my permanent cap?
im afraid that if i undergo dental implant i will be toothless for a while. i don’t want to look funny and toothless. i hope there’s no “toothless time” between the healing process and the actual placement of the permanent caps. is there?

They will give you a temporary denture they cost around $ 300 and they will look completely natural. After the screw is placed into the bone there will be a healing time before the tooth can be placed over it so you will have to have dentures of some sort.

How much is a dental implant? (in the US)?

Question by Ryan: How much is a dental implant? (in the US)?
I’ve been missing one of my molars for several years and am considering an implant. I was wondering how much they cost. I don’t think my insurance will cover the implant but will cover the crown so how much do they each cost?

Best answer:

Answer by broph dog
Basic implants are $ 1,250-$ 3,000 each, but the total cost can escalate to $ 15,000-$ 30,000 depending on location, complexity and the need for bone or gum restoration work, according to DentalResources.com.Many dentists provide financing because most insurance doesn’t cover implants.

What should be included:
For those missing one or more teeth, a titanium screw or post is surgically implanted into the bone of the jaw. AboutCosmeticDentistry.com describes three basic types of implant procedures. Implantation requires a full surgical team and healing may take three to six months. Once the area is healed, a crown is placed on the implant. The implant is considered permanent; the crown may be replaced as needed over the years.

Whats the difference between pre dentistry major and pre dental hiygene major?

Question by musicinmypants32: Whats the difference between pre dentistry major and pre dental hiygene major?

Best answer:

Answer by BolĂgrafo
Pre-dental really isn’t a major, you have to choose biology, chemistry, or biochemistry as a major if you plan on attending dental school.

As for dental hygiene, you usually start off working with patients in a clinic at your school. You learn to clean teeth, take X-rays, assist the dentist, paper work, instruments. You’re basically an assistant.

dental implant or bridge?

Question by Aiste: dental implant or bridge?
I am missing one tooth which is better: dental implant or a bridge. my husband sais that there is a lot of controversion about the dental implants.

Best answer:

Answer by grandpa walleye
When a bridge is done the tooth on each side of the space are ground down and crowns are made for them. The replacement false tooth is soldered to each crown and the bridge is cemented as a single unit. If the 2 adjacent teeth have big fillings, or decay, or are weakened, it may be a good idea to place crowns over them to strengthen them. However if the 2 teeth are intact (virgin) teeth it would be a shame to grind them down and an implant would be a much better option. The new implants are really great. As a matter of fact I’m having one placed on me tomorrow. Good luck to you
