Answer by new_by_new
Pre -dent is for students interested in attending dental school to become a dentist.
Pre-hygiene is for those interested in entering dental school to become hygenists.
The dentists do the primary work like fillings, extractions, surgeries, etc. The dental hygenists is a step up from the dental assistant and a step down from the dentist.
A hygenist is licensed to take x-rays, and perform prophylaxis (teeth cleaning) whereas assistant are not allowed to do so.
There may be little difference in the curricula of the two programs. Expect the predent to be math, biology, chemistry intensive and pre-hyg to be a little less stringent a path.
cheers
