In the push to “get the government off our back” and “let the free market do its job,” Washington eliminated virtually all regulations on energy companies, and later did the same thing on mortgage providers (and more specifically, those who buy and sell mortgages).

Energy deregulation led to Enron and skyrocketing consumer prices.
Mortgage deregulation led to the current meltdown in housing.

Which was a bigger failure?

What would be the average salary of a finance director with a small business located in Atlanta, GA?

Can’t answer that without additional information. Director is just a title. How many people report to him/her and what is the scope of business? What industry?

In general at a Fortune 500 company a Director of Finance makes between $ 82k - $ 175k per year base salary. Small business Directors can make significantly more or less depending on the industry and scope of responsibilities.

The buyer of our flat has requested a mortgage valuation rather than a buyers survey. I’m told the mortgage valuation is less detailed.
What exactly is carried out?

basically they just see if it’s worth the price your asking - and doesn’t look like it’ll fall down any second. the more detailed / expensive the survey the more they look into the structure of the flat

A. No effect on total liabilities, increase in debt to equity ratio
B.Increase in total liablities, increase in debt to equity ratio
C.No effect on total liabilities, decrease in debt to equity ratio
D.Decrease in total liabilities, decrease in debt to equity ratio

My answer is D. That is correct? I know B is not an answere.

I think it’s answer A.

The declaration of a cash dividend creates a liability, but then the payment of the dividend negates that liability.

The payment of the dividend also reduces equity, so debt to equity ratio increases.
